A concerted marketing effort is about to get underway to try and lure tourists to Simcoe County and Grey and Bruce as well.
All three counties belong to the Regional Tourism Organization 7 which has spend the past year planning strategies to make the local tourism industry more sustainable.
Jeff Schmidt is the General manager of RTO7 and says they be focusing a lot of their efforts on the Toronto area.
Schmidt says because of the economic problems facing the U.S., it will be difficult to try and attract American Tourists to the region.
He says destinations that traditionally draw from the border US states are really struggling at this time because of the high value of the Canadian dollar and the struggling American economy
Schmidt says instead its time to recalibrate the Ontario Tourism industry.
He says the future of the industry in this region , the RTO7 area, is their ability to draw more tourists from all across Ontario.
