Orillia Councillors will have to wait until September until they decide whether they will introduce a code of conduct for themselves.
Council has deferred a making a decision about adopting a proposed code put together by the clerks department.
Council agreed to table a decision to impose the code of conduct until the Sept. 12 committee meeting due to being on the summer council schedule.
The hiring of an integrity commissioner has also been tabled to that date.
Staff have been working on the code of conduct for three months.
Clerk Gayle Jackson says they have looked at 10 municipalities, their codes of conduct and we sort of incorporated what we thought were important provisions from the samples that we had.
One councillor however not exactly thrilled by the proposed code. Michael Hill says he has doubts this document or this council has any real authority to ferret out offenders who choose to ignore the proposed code.
