Good news for Orillia area groups or businesses that need a little seed money to help expand or improve their organization.
The Orillia Community Development Corporation has about 15 thousand dollars to invest in the community.
Community Development Co ordinator CArol Benedetti says with these funds, the CDC will be looking to fund a variety of projects that will build capacity within individual organizations and the community.
She says the Community Capacity Building fund is designed to be a little broader and allows for projects that address local needs and priorities like job creation, economic diversification and enhanced business competitiveness.
Benedetti says they want to the whole process to be as open as possible so as many local groups and organizations can apply for funding.
She says they want organizations to think outside of the box so to speak About what they need to improve their organization and the community.
The deadline for applying for funding is noon September 16 and Benedetti hopes the funding announcement can be made by the end of the month.
