The Sharing Place Food Bank In Orillia getting the word out that its fall food Drive will be getting underway in just a few weeks.
It runs from September 23rd to October 13th.
Food Bank spokesperson Pamela O’Carol Powell says this year they are hoping to get more than 25 thousand pounds of food donated to feed the needy.
She says Six of Orillias major supermarket chains will be drop-off locations for our Fall Food Drive.
Foodland, Giant Tiger, Jasons No Frills, Metro, Walmart and Zehrs Food Plus are participating in The Sharing Place Food Bank campaign.
Boxed or canned potatoes, cranberry sauce, canned fruit, canned vegetables, stuffing, rice and turkey gravy are the food banks most desired items.
Other important food items are: breakfast cereal, chunky soup, pasta, mac & cheese, canned pasta, peanut butter, pork and beans, soups, crackers, pasta sauce, oatmeal packets, canned meat or fish, tea, coffee, and baby formula.
O’Carol Powell says they want people to check expiration dates before donating food.
She says Donations of personal care items such as: bar soap, shampoo, conditioner, tooth paste and tooth brushes, would also be much appreciated
