Orillia City Council has voted to take 255 West Street South off the table as a site option for a Multi-Use Recreation Facility.
Councillor Patrick Kehoe put forward the motion to remove the site as an option – he had the support of Mayor Angelo Orsi and Councillors Patrick Fogarty, Andrew Hill, and Linda Murray.
Voting against the motion were Councillors Tony Madden, Pete Bowen, and Paul Spears.
Councillor Don Jenkins was absent from the meeting.
Councillor Kehoe is still looking to do something with the site – namely find a way to clean it up.
To that end, Kehoe says he has been in discussions with Lakehead University about a possible research partnership to find the best way to clean up the site for future use.
