A successful end to a search for some lost hikers on Sunday afternoon in Clearview township.
OPP report that they received a “911” call from a female who stated she and her family were lost in the Nottawasaga Lookout Provincial Nature Reserve.
The family of 4 had been hiking since 2:00 p.m. and became disorientated and unable to find their way back to their parked car.
Police conducted a search and were aided by this female who accessed the internet with her cell phone and obtained the family’s GPS coordinates.
These were relayed to the searching OPP member’s who successfully located the lost family who were cold but in good health.
Police remind all who venture into the great outdoors to be prepared for the unexpected. Take a map of the area and also ensure someone knows where you are going and when you should return. Take an emergency pack with you in case the unexpected occurs, if you get lost and need to spend the night
