A pretty good report card for the North Simcoe Muskoka Local health Integration Network when it came to delivering care to stroke victims.
The Ontario Stroke Network looked at and evaluated all of the provinces 14 LHIN’s and Dr. Mark Bailey says they found that there was several good areas of care being provided to the victims of stroke.
Bailey says The North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN while there was good care as far as people arriving in the hospital quickly, there were some areas where improvements could be made like caring for people in a specialized stroke unit.
Dr Bailey also says other area that could see improvement for the North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN include access to medications that could help prevent a second stroke and better use of diagnostic imaging to see if a person is at risk of another stroke.
