Orillia’s Take Back the Night event has proven to be a big success.
Roughly 200 people came out for the Take Back the Night event here in Orillia – up from 50 participants last year.
Organizer Sasha Musulin credits superior preparation and promotion for the rise in numbers.
Guest speakers were on hand from various womens groups across the region – all speaking on the seriousness of the issue of violence against women.
While the women were busy taking back the night – the men came together for a roundtable discussion on their roll in taking on this issue.
Those in attendance all expressed their enthusiasm for a day when women can safely walk unescorted after dark.
