Orillia Council tonight will be debating whether to continue to use the OSPCA to provide Animal Control Services in the City or switch to another service provider or to create a new position for a city by law enforcement officer to provide enforcement services.
Council will be looking at possibly renewing its five year contract with the OSPCA at a cost of $721,300 . If Council used only the OSPCA pound services and did Orillia did its own enforcement that would result in a saving of about 115 thousand dollars over five years.
Council also will be asked to look at contracting animal control services for 5 years with Pine Ridge Pet Centre in Coldwater for pound services at a cost of $219,220.
