The countdown until Santa visits Orillia is under way. His first visit comes this Sunday during the annual Santa Claus Parade through downtown Orillia.
Of course, his second visit some on the night of December 24th.
Doug Bunker of the Orillia Chamber of commerce is one of the organizers of the event and says this one of the largest parades north of Toronto, and attracts bands from all across the province and up to 40 different floats.
He says more than 8 thousand people usually turn out for the event which begins at 1 pm at the foot of Mississauga Street.
The parade then works its way over the Colborne St., up to and around Soldiers Memorial Hospital then back down the main street until it ends back at the Port of Orillia.
Bunker says the deadline for anyone wanting to enter a float is this Wednesday.
