Quite an accomplishment for Orillia’s Soldiers memorial Hospital. It has scored very high on its first Workwell audit conducted by the Workplace Safety Insurance Board.
The hospital scored just over 83 per cent
Vice President of People partnerships and planning Angela Harwood says this was the result of a lot of work over the years to improve safety in the hospital.
She says the reason for their safety success is both management and staff are working together to make sure the hospital is a safe place for both staff and visitors.
Harwood says to improve safety, they need money to make sure hospital staff are working with the best possible equipment.
She says its always a battle getting the necessary funds to maintain a safe work environment.
Harwood says later this month they will get the full WSIB report and that will out line what the hospital has to do to score even higher as far as workplace safety is concerned.
