Santa is preparing for his annual visit to Orillia’s Soldiers Memorial Hospital to deliver gifts to children who must remain there over the Christmas Holiday.
Director of Community Relations, Terry Dyni says the corporate community here in Orillia is helping Santa out as well by donating numbers toys and stuffed animals for the kids.
He says one of the things they are looking for now are books for the kids.
Dyni says there is a bit of a shortage of hard covered or board books for the children to look thorough when they are in the hospital.
He says they prefer the hard covered books because of infection control as they are easier to wipe down to avoid the spread of germs.
Dyni says the hospital foundation also involved in a special Christmas initiative that has been going for several years.
Its called Soldiers for Soldiers where people who donate to the Hospital Foundation receive a cutout of a toy soldier to hang on their Christmas tree.
