The 28 year old Ramara man has been charged with drinking and driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
This after a Taxi cab was rear ended at the corner of Atherley Road and the Highway 12 by pass this morning around 2 a.m.
Police say no one in the cab was injured, but the driver of the other vehicle took off.
Police later discovered the vehicle in the ditch on Forest Avenue south.
When police arrived at the scene, the driver also arrived with a tow truck.
It was determined this was the same vehicle that struck the taxi and the driver was arrested and charged.
He will be in court in early January.
