Simcoe North MP Bruce Stanton says the health care funding announcement yesterday from Finance Minister Jim Flaherty is some thing the provinces should be celebrating, not criticizing. Jim Flaherty has announced new health spending will stick to current six per cent annual increases through 2017.
But by 2018, he says the increase will be tied to the rate of nominal G-D-P, which is currently just over four per cent.
Ontario Finance Minister Dwight Duncan says instead of a Christmas present, Flaherty has given the provinces a lump of coal.
However the Simcoe North MP says for Ontario, this is a good news event.
Stanton says tying the health care funding to the GDP begining in 2018 is a good way to fund health care and at the same time keep spending in check.
