Two boys, an 11 yr old from Bracebridge and a 15 year old from Gravenhurst, are dead after a tragic snowmobiling accident early this morning.
Emergency officials responded shortly after midnight after three snowmobiles and the five people riding them went through ice and into the water at Lighthouse Narrows in Lake Muskoka.
Three people – a 31-year-old Bracebridge man, a 37-year-old Gravenhurst man and a 14-year-old Gravenhurst boy were able to get to shore.
Emergency officials retrieved the remaining two boys from the water. They were taken to hospital, but lifesaving efforts on them were unsuccessful.
The OPP Underwater Search and Recover Unit (USRU) continue their investigation. OPP Aviation support and Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are also assisting in co-ordination with the office of the Chief Coroner.
