Just over one million acceptable batteries were collected during the County of Simcoe's curbside battery collection this past November.
That adds up to nearly 26,000 kilograms of batteries, a 7.15% increase from 2017.
In fact, the week-long campaign exceeded all other participating Ontario municipalities.
The goal is to keep batteries out of the landfill.
Seems to be working.
There has been a 27 per cent decrease in batteries improperly disposed of since the annual collection began five years ago.
