OPP say a fire that destroyed an abandoned residential structure on Gravenhurst Parkway this past weekend was a deliberately set case of arson.
The blaze broke out early Saturday morning. OPP Forensics Units were on scene later that morning helping the Gravenhurst Fire Department in their investigation.
Bracebridge OPP Constable James Reading tells Country 102 that evidence found by police at the scene has provided them with clues to follow up on. There were no injuries.
If you have any information that can help police, you are urged to contact them.
Reading also says there's nothing that would lead police to believe at this time that the fire had anything to do with the recent Wanzhen Lu kidnapping case. Police have received inquiries about whether there was a connection, because of the relatively close proximity of the blaze to the place where Lu was located.
The property the fire broke out on was near Muskoka Airport – Lu was found in Gravenhurst on nearby Doe Lake Road the evening of March 26th after being freed by his captors.
