Barrie police confirm one person was killed in a crash where crews were working to fix a broken water main in the city's south end.
They say a car plowed through barriers that blocked off the intersection of Big Bay Point Road and Yonge Street around three Saturday afternoon and ended up in a large hole that had been dug in the road.
A 69 year old female passenger was killed, the 78 year old male driver was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre with life threatening injuries.
Both are from Barrie.
