This is the last thing Muskoka needs.
More water.
A rainfall warning is in effect.
20-30 mm of rain on tap today, another 10 overnight, then the showers fizzle tomorrow morning, before yet another system brings more rain Thursday night that could spillover into Friday.
Desperately looking for a ray of sunshine, the weekend looks promising weatherwise–mostly dry.
Bracebridge Mayor Graydon Smith predicts the number of houses and seasonal properties inundated by floods will “easily exceed” those in 2013.
He doesn't have numbers, but during that period, over 1,000 homes and about 1,000 seasonal properties were affected.
The mayor says the north branch of the Muskoka River is slowly receding.
Lake Muskoka has risen two cm in the last 24 hours, but officials say the flooding situation there has begun to subside.
Smith is asking boaters to stay off the water because of the amount of debris and to reduce further damage to shoreline properties.
Meanwhile, water levels continue to drop within the Port Sydney and Huntsville area, however are still above the high-water mark.
In Muskoka Lakes, township officials are recommending property owners in low-lying areas adjacent to the Moon River considering evacuating their residence due to increasing water levels.
