Bracebridge Mayor Graydon Smith says areas currently experiencing flooding will not see water levels start to recede until water works its way out of the watershed.
Water levels on the North Branch of the Muskoka River are receding and it's anticipated water levels on the South Branch of the Muskoka River and Lake Muskoka will slowly decline over the next seven days.
Smith doesn't have a firm figure on the number of properties affected by flooding but it tops the number affected in the 2013 flood, which was 1,100.
About half the army reservists that arrived in Bracebridge last weekend have been redeployed to eastern Ontario to assist with the flood situation there.
In Muskoka Lakes Township, a slight bump in water levels on Lakes Muskoka, Rosseau and Joseph, and it's stable on the Moon River.
States of emergency remain in place for both municipalities.
