A 43-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly struck an OPP cruiser, with an officer inside on Highway 404 in Richmond Hill.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said officers were called to multiple collisions on the busy highway near Bloomington Road yesterday morning.
He says an officer responding to one of the crashes was seated in his parked cruiser with the lights flashing, when he was struck from behind by a passing vehicle.
The officer and the driver of the vehicle that struck the cruiser were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, a Newmarket man, has been charged with failing to slow down and move over, careless driving, and several drug possession charges.
