The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation and the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) are beginning a work-to-rule campaign today.
ETFO President Sam Hammond said the goal of the strike action is to turn up the heat on Premier Doug Ford and his education minister, Stephen Lecce, to make more progress at the bargaining table.
During the work-to-rule,teachers will not participate in any unpaid meetings outside of school hours.
They also will not take part in standardized testing and will not provide comments on report cards.
OSSTF president Harvey Bischof says the work-to-rule measures will have no impact on students’ learning conditions whatsoever.
School activities such as field trips, sports and extracurricular activities are expected to continue during the strike action.
