Talk about being in the right place at the right time.
An Orillia OPP officer was was at the intersection of Fittons Road and West Street Sunday afternoon when he observed several people quickly exiting a convenience store in the plaza.
When he investigated this he was advised a man had just assaulted the male clerk and took off with unpaid merchandise.
Witnesses gave a description of the male and direction of travel.
The male suspect was located a short distance away and arrested by police.
A 49 year old Orillia man is now facing numerous charges including Robbery with Violence, Assault Cause Bodily Harm and Uttering Threats.
The store clerk was taken to Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital by ambulance where he was treated and released.
