Work will begin soon on transforming the outdoor recreation space in foundry park which surrounds the Orillia Rec. Centre.
Two new amenities will be built – a skatepark and pickleball courts.
The Foundry Park skatepark is the first phase of the project to get underway with groundbreaking set for early May. Funds come from a partnership between the City and the local skateboarding community who have committed more than $100,000.
The construction of 10 pickleball courts is also set for the coming months with the project also partially funded by the pickleball community. They are expected to be ready for use in the fall.
