South Georgian Bay OPP was busy with five drivers following impaired driving investigations this past week.
Despite the RIDE program kicking off, OPP dealt with the impaired drivers between November 15-18th.
The OPP and municipal police have assigned extra officers who will be out 24-7 through the holiday season, looking for impaired drivers.
All five drivers were nabbed during the day — between 10 am and 5 pm.
The following charges are as follows:
– 37-year-old woman from Penetanguishene was charged with impaired driving and driving while suspended
– 37-year-old man from Midland was charged with operation while impaired
– 42-year-old Penetanguishene resident charged with impaired driving
– 43-year-old Barrie man charged with possession for possession of anything for use in, production of/trafficking a Schedule I or Schedule III substance. His passenger, a 22-year-old Barrie resident, was also charged with possession of Cocaine, which is a Schedule I substance. Both had to be treated by Simcoe County Paramedic Services for drug-related complications.
– 63-year-old resident of Severn Township was charged with impaired driving
One person, the 42-year-old from Penetanguishene was charged after they were involved in a single-vehicle crash. No injuries were reported.
In a separate incident, two people from Barrie were charged with
OPP says that if you see a possible impaired driver on the roadways, waterways or trails to “Make the Call” and dial 911.
