The SIU is investigating the death of a 73 year old man, after he reportedly refused to wear a mask and started assaulting people at a grocery store in Haliburton.
The incident began yesterday morning at the Valu-mart on Highway 35 in Minden.
Police say the man left the store and was followed for a short period of time by an officer, before his license plate led to a home on Indian Point Road.
According to the SIU, there was an altercation and two officers fired their guns.
The man was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
HIs name has yet to be released.
