An event about the current opioid crisis is taking place today in Orillia.
Orillia Talks: Simcoe County Moms Raising Awareness will take place at the Geneva Event Centre from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
The free event will give people the opportunity to hear first-hand accounts about the issue and hear from speakers.
They include: Natalie Harris, a Barrie city councillor and former paramedic, who has battled addiction in the past, as well as an employee of the Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care.
Naloxone kits will also be available at the event for free, following a brief demonstration on how to use them to try to prevent an overdose.
