A chartered aircraft from Wuhan, China, bringing home Canadians stuck in the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak, has landed at CFB Trenton this morning.
A government official has confirmed there are 176 passengers on board.
François-Philippe Champagne said the Canadian flight was scheduled to arrive at 5 a.m..
All evacuees will spend 14 days under quarantine on the military base–being monitored to see if they have contracted the virus.
A second plane, chartered by the U.S., is also bringing some Canadians home today, while Champagne said another chartered flight carrying the remaining Canadians will leave Wuhan on Monday.
Before boarding the aircraft, passengers had to undergo multiple layers of screening by Chinese and Canadian authorities.
Anyone who showed symptoms of illness was not allowed to board.
