Today is the deadline for the Simcoe County Shoebox project.
Residents have been encouraged to get a shoebox, decorate it, and fill it with $50 of items a woman in your family would like to receive for Christmas.
Suggested items include: socks, mitts, scarf, hat, hand warmers, chocolate, hand lotion, soaps, toothbrush, toothpaste, and make-up.
The boxes will be delivered locally to homeless or at-risk women in our community.
A recent survey found 66% of women who are living on the streets in Simcoe County indicate that they are homeless simply because of expensive rents or eviction.
