Ontario's Court of Appeals has upheld a decision that awarded $7 million in damages to a girl who was left permanently injured after a final-day-of-school incident.
It happened in June 2011 when Barrie resident Sarah Little, then 13, jumped from the rear exit of a moving bus and hit her head, resulting in serious injuries that left her unable to work and live independently.
The act was said to have been a last day of school tradition
The Court of Appeal rejected most arguments from the bus company, which now operates as Landmark Bus Lines, and found no issues with how the trial judge had instructed the jury in the case.
