Smith Named to National Nrordic Squad
Georgian Bay Nordic grad Julian Smith has been named to the National Ski Team for the 2019/2020 season.
Smith who started skiing with the Jack Rabbit program run by the Bruce Ski Club in 2002. has won numerous medals at Nationals over the past 5 years, racing in international events around the globe.
A graduate of Hepworth Ecole Elementary & West Hill Secondary School, Smith has been named to the Ontario Ski Team for most of the last decade.
In 2004, Smith won Gold in the 7.5 km skate race at the OFSAA Championship in Timmins
In 2010 he joined Georgian Bay Nordic under the head coach Marilyn Suke. Julian quickly went from a novice to the fastest skier in Ontario in his birth year in 2010.
In 2014 Julian was selected to train with the National Team Development Centre in Thunder Bay under the head coach Timo Puiras.
Over the past 5 years Julian has won numerous medals at Nationals, been named to the Junior National Ski Team (2015), World Juniors three times (2015, 2017 and 2019), and raced for Canada in USA, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Norway and Finland.

Alan Letang will return as the Head Coach of the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League.
Letang who replaced Todd Gill in January last season, had 8 wins down the stretch as Interim coach and went 5 games in the opening round of the playoffs before losing to Sault Ste Marie.
Assistant Coach Jordan Hill, and Assistant Coach/Assistant General Manager Joey Hishon will also return to their positions.
