Orillia's property tax hike is going to be slightly lower than anticipated.
When the city initially approved its budget earlier this year, the tax increase was expected to be 3.25 per cent.
But now that final numbers are in from the province on the education levy, the rate is 2.5 per cent for residential properties and 2.6 for industrial and commercial.
For homeowners, this is an approximate increase of $35 per $100,000 worth of property tax assessment.
Mayor Steve Clarke says the tax rate is the lowest its been in a number of years in Orillia, adding the city's financial footing is on solid ground.
