Bracebridge Mayor Graydon Smith says the flooding remains a multi-day event and though the town is not near the end, the finish line is coming into sight for some areas.
He says people in the Springdale-area are reporting the water is going down and there is progress, yet at the mouth of the Muskoka River he says there is an epic amount of water that is fully around homes.
There is rain in the forecast on Wednesday, at least 25 to 30 mm.
At a briefing this morning, the mayor hoped the amount was an over-estimate.
Either way, he says the rain will be an extension of the flood event for all areas.
So far, 45,000 sandbags have been distributed and an additional 100,000 bags will be coming into the region today.
Smith also wanted to remind people that the municipal water supply has NOT been compromised.
The Simcoe County District Unit says anyone on a well should not drink the water.
An additional 30 Canadian Armed Forces soldiers and vehicles are in the town today, on top of the 60 that arrived Sunday, to assist with sandbag delivery and filling, and evacuation assistance if required.
And it's not often Muskoka asks tourists to stay away, but Smith says a number of cars were turned back on Sunday with people looking to tour flood zones.
He says touring areas under a flood emergency is not a good idea because there are people including the military who are working, and nobody else is welcome.
States of emergency remain in effect in Bracebridge, Huntsville and Muskoka Lakes.
