Like its neighbour Bracebridge to the south, Huntsville is under a State of Emergency and the Town’s mayor says today’s rain could play a determining factor as to how bad flooding gets there.
Scott Aitchison tells Country 102 that in the north end of Huntsville, in the Big East River area, the levels have started to go down.
They’ve also levelled off in the downtown core for the time being, he says, but continue to rise below the Brunel locks in the Mary Lake, Port Sydney area and down the Muskoka River.
Aitchison says today’s rain with the forecast calling for up to 40-50 mm could make things worse…(above audio)
Huntsville’s Registration and Inquiry Centre at the Canada Summit Centre is available throughout the emergency if you need a place to stay that’s open for 24 hrs.
