The Town of Huntsville has declared a State Of Emergency due to predicted rainfall amounts that could exasperate the current flooding situation.
Environment Canada is advising that rain will be heavy starting Thursday night with total rainfall amounts of 25 to 40 millimetres forecasted by late Friday night with local amounts possibly exceeding 50 mm.
As of today at noon, Huntsville lakes continue to rise at a slower rate, but while water levels in the Big East River are slowly lowering, Town officials are seeing rising waters and flooded roads south of Brunel Locks and throughout the Port Sydney area.
Property owners in low-lying areas should take precautionary measures to protect their property.

Residents are reminded that if they have flood damage to contact their insurance provider
The Town reminds that flooded roads are closed for public safety and that it is illegal to drive on a closed road.
The Town continues to remind residents to stay clear of waterways.
Parents and guardians are also advised to remind children to stay clear of open waters, creeks and rivers.
To assist residents with general inquiries and shelter options the Town of Huntsville has opened a 24-hour Registration and Inquiry Centre at the Canada Summit Centre, 20 Park Drive, 705-789-6421 Ext. 0. The Registration and Inquiry Centre will continue to remain open 24-hours a day until further notice.
