A letter has been sent from the chair of Simcoe County's public school board asking Education Minister Lisa Thompson to re-think the issue of larger high school class sizes.
The letter from Jodi Lloyd points out the progress that's been made in recent years helping vulnerable kids stay in school and graduate — progress that could be undone by the Ford government's plans.
Lloyd also says larger class sizes will threaten programs in small, rural schools and affect specialized classes like those designed to get kids interested in skilled trades.
She doesn't believe the impact of larger class sizes is fully appreciated by the minister, and warns that some classes could grow to 40 students under the new scenario.
