Barrie Police are looking for a suspect they call the backpack bandit.
Today at 4:51 a.m., police responded to a robbery at the Circle K Convenience Store at 353 Duckworth Street in Barrie after a lone suspect entered the store armed with what appears to be a bear repellant type product and a knife.
He removed a black backpack that he was wearing and placed it on the counter. A demand for money was made and the clerk complied.
An undisclosed amount of money was taken, put into the backpack and the suspect fled the store on foot.
A description of the suspect:
White male, 5’11, wearing black sweater, black pants, black toque, black balaclava and black shoes.
Despite being dressed entirely in black, a neatly folded red coloured bandana was also observed tucked into front left hip area.
