Despite uncertainty around a new healthcare super agency being created by the Ford Government, it's full steam ahead for local hospital projects. And that includes a plan to relocate Solider's Memorial Hospital in Orillia and Collingwood's general and Marine hospital. Gail Hunt is president of Georgian Bay General hospital in Midland, and heads the Simcoe County hospital alliance.
She gave county councillors an update Tuesday on the status of plans for the various local hospitals — and says the projects will continue to move forward using information they have.
She says the provincial changes may affect relationships between hospitals and their primary and long term care partners.
“There's a little bit of unknown that's difficult to plan for, so we continue on because we only know what we know right now.”
A couple of years ago, the county committed 45 million dollars over 15 years to help pay for local hospital expansions and upgrades, and that commitment was reaffirmed today.
