Living Water Resorts in Collingwood says they had no idea some housekeepers employed by them were victims of an alleged labour human trafficking ring.
The resort says they employed the workers through a contracted housekeeping services company for the past year at a rate of $21 per hour.
Living Water has since cut ties with the company.
The resort has also connected with community agencies to make sure these people have the supports and supplies they need, and they have been offered work at Living Water.
Earlier this week, Barrie police and the OPP said they had rescued over 40 people who had been brought to Canada from Mexico where they worked at hotel and vacation properties in central and eastern Ontario.
Investigators said after the workers paid fees to their traffickers, they were left with about $50 a month.
The investigation began after police received information about a trafficking ring run by a Barrie-based cleaning company.
No charges laid but police said that may be announced at a later date
