Michael Gordon has been named Orillia's 2018 Citizen of the Year.
Gordon, as chair of the Community Foundation of Orillia and Area, he oversaw a growth in the organization's assets to over $6 million, which allowed for $260,000 in grants to local charities and initiatives last year.
He is also treasurer for the Channel Cats and the Regent Park parent council, and led fundraising efforts for St. Paul's Centre, which enabled a $1 million renovation of the Great Hall and backstage area.
