Opinions were nearly split in our latest online poll, asking your thoughts on allowing local cannabis retail stores.
53 per cent of respondents believe their local government should not opt-in to pot shops.
While some cite a lack of regulation as their reason against cannabis storefronts, others call marijuana a “gate way drug,” adding, “why add more addictions locally?”
Others simply call the move a “tax grab,” while some are worried about the exposure of children to cannabis.
Meantime, 48 per cent are in favour of the move, with most saying a legal industry should be allowed to operate freely.
Some respondents say cannabis retailers will help their local economy, while more cautious voters say rules need to be strictly enforced.
