The Province is embarking on a regional government review with an eye to cost-cutting and Simcoe County and Muskoka are included.
Doug Ford’s Government released a statement today saying they are undertaking the review to help ensure that municipalities are working effectively and efficiently and can continue to provide the vital services that communities depend on. One of the questions that will be considered is whether two-tier government structures are appropriate.
The review will include consultations with municipal councilors and leaders, stakeholder organizations and the public in the spring of 2019.
Recommendations will be submitted by early Summer 2019.
Overall, the Province will be reviewing 82 municipalities.
