The OPP's canine unit was called in about a dirt biker who evaded police in Essa Township, but they too came up empty-handed.
On Monday at 5:20 PM, an OPP officer spotted a dirk bike travelling eastbound on County Road 90 in the area of George Johnston Road.
The officer observed that the motorbike was being operated with no fixed license plate and travelling with no lighting system. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle by activating the emergency lights, but the driver accelerated and fled the scene.
The officer did not pursue the bike due to safety concerns, but continued following.
A short distance down the road, a witness stopped at the side of the road and told the officer that he'd observed a yellow dirk bike crash into the eastbound ditch. The driver of the dirt bike then fled on foot southbound into the treeline.
Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine Unit assisted with the search which proved unsuccessful. The rider is described as a male and was last seen wearing dark coloured coveralls, and a white helmet.
OPP are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this dirt bike travelling east on County Road 90, to contact the Nottawasaga Detachment.
