A keen-eyed citizen who called police after they saw someone enter an unlocked motor vehicle on Ambler Way in Barrie's east end Saturday is being praised by police.
Barrie Police units, both uniform patrol and from the Tactical Support Unit descended upon the area shortly after 9pm as the suspect attempted to evade capture by climbing fences and hiding in backyards. The police dragnet closed in as officers followed the suspect’s footprints in the snow – a 20-year Barrie male was taken into custody without incident quickly.
The accused has been charged with Theft under $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 and Trespass by Night.
He's scheduled to appear in Barrie Court in late February.
