With these bitterly cold wind chills, the Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit is reminding people to take precautions to protect themselves.
Louise Wilson, a public health nurse with the agency, says exposed skin can become frostbitten in less than a minute.
She adds there are three conditions you need to guard against when it's this cold…(above audio)
Frost nip will produce white or red skin — and may be accompanied by a stinging sensation or pain.
If you encounter that, you need to warm up the area before it progresses to the more damaging frost-bite stage.
