Ron Taverner may not be the next OPP Commissioner.
Over the weekend, Taverner rescinded his resignation papers as a superintendent with Toronto police.
Chief Mark Saunders approved the move last night.
The unit commander of the northwest district was named to the OPP job by the Conservatives last month.
His swearing-in was delayed after multiple parties, including the current interim commissioner, claimed “political interference” lead to his appointment.
An investigation was to be launched today into the matter.
