Police are reminding school-aged kids about the dangers of accepting rides from strangers.
On Tuesday, Barrie Police were made aware of an incident that occurred on Cumming Drive in Barrie.
At 3:20 p.m., two elementary school aged children were walking westbound on Cumming Drive, when a passing motorist called out and offered them a ride. The female motorist was described as being in her early 40’s, with brown hair, a medium build and driving a 4-door black coloured passenger car.
The children didn't recognize her and continued home where they reported the incident to their mother, who contacted the police.
Police say it appears to have been an isolated event, as no similar reports have been received.
Parents are encouraged to use this example and speak to their children about the dangers of speaking to or accepting a ride from a stranger.
