Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement says he is a victim of an extortion attempt for financial gain.
Clement has resigned as Conservative justice critic after admitting he shared sexually explicit images and a video with what he thought was a consenting female recipient.
The RCMP has confirmed they are investigating based on information received from Clement.
In a statement, Clement said he had exercised very poor judgement and was going to seek help and treatment.
Clement is married and has three children.
