The County of Simcoe is already looking to make textile collection a little easier next year.
Contracts and Collections Supervisor for the County Of Simcoe, Willma Bureau, says the hope was to collect 150 tonnes of clothing and bedding over the two week collection. But 107 tonnes was actually collected.
Bureau says she believes that's because homeowners were asked to leave bags of material at the curb on Monday morning to be collected at any time during the week.
She says she thinks people would prefer the textiles be picked up on the same day as their garbage and that is exactly what will happen next year.
All in all, Bureau says she isn't disappointed in the results this year because it's an improvement compared to 50 tonnes of textiles collected at the county's eight waste management facilities in an entire year previously.
