Steve Clarke will be back as Mayor for the City of Orillia.
Clarke along with 6 of the 8 Councillors were re-elected to another term of Council after last night's (MON) municipal election.
They are Ted Emond in Ward 1, Rob Kloostra and Ralph Cipolla in Ward 2, Mason Ainsworth in Ward 3, and Tim Lauer and Pat Hehn in Ward 4.
There will be two new faces on Council — David Campbell in Ward 1 and Jay Fallis in Ward 3.
Ward 1 incumbent Sarah Valiquette-Thompson ran for Council in the Township of Severn this year and Jeff Clark did not run for Council in Ward 3.
The results are in stark contrast to four years ago when all nine positions on Council changed names — six incumbents were defeated, three did not seek re-election.
Clarke credits his campaign team for helping him get re-elected.
He says you need a team with a strong work ethic and people working together with one common goal.
Clarke says some of the focus the new Council will deal with is the low attendance at their post-secondary institutions.
He says they will also look into increasing the number of affordable housing and working with stakeholders to deal with mental health issues.
Cipolla says the previous Council was one of the better working Councils he has been a part of.
He says the results show that it is important to finish what Council has started.
For Fallis, it is his first term on Council and he says he is very honoured that many ward 3 residents choose him to represent them on Council.
He says he is looking forward to representing them and understand what they want to see in the community.
Jody Lloyd was re-elected as public school board trustee for Orillia.
Voter turnout in Orillia was 36.17 percent.
The new Council will be officially sworn in on December 3rd.
